Mahesh Deshpande, a Master of Technology from VNIT who has spent over a decade in Tokyo, Japan in the very thick of Finance and IT; working as the Head of IT Asia with Calyon, a French Investment Bank, sensed that the real opportunity for Rural India lay in diverting the advances and technology of First World Countries like Japan to India.

Having travelled the globe, gaining exposure and expertise at all the major financial hubs across the world, he understood that First World Countries represented a massive unserviced market for Indian IT & Finance talent.

The Genesis of NOZOMI.

Before it all began, Mahesh was faced with three questions,

1) Why we are doing this?

2) What we are going to do?

3) Where do we want to be?

With brainstorming and endless session with his Core Team, he came up with these answers…

Why we are doing this:

•  “Aartha Dharmasya Moolam” ( Prosperity is the basis for righteousness to be upheld.) Chanakya, renowned economist, ~ 283 BC

•  To re-create prosperity of Rural India.

•  To provide enduring and alternative sources of income for our Rural population.

What we are going to do:

•  Youth, being the future, need direction to their energy.

•  Inspiring youth into learning special skills and developing them to world class standards.

•  Enabling the Rural Youth to be employed by the best of the worlds pay masters!

Where do we want to be:

•  Create a Training program focused on Rural Youth Empowerment.

•  Expansion of this Tried and Tested Training Program to various Rural and Backward Regions in India .

•  Enabling the Rural Youth to Contribute to India 's growing economy.

•  Empowering the Rural Youth with Skills in Foreign Languages, Finance and IT.

As the President and CEO of Nozomi, Mahesh already has created a trailblazing success story in Rural India, especially from villages like Wani, Amravati, Gondiya, Yawatmal in the Vidharba District of Maharashtra, all in a short span of only three years.

Mahesh, himself hails from a farmer family from a small town called Wani.

In fact, most of the Team in Nozomi come from Rural Family Backgrounds. They were lucky to have Education and got the chance to grow. ‘The Team' came together, under Mahesh's guidance to counter the Grass Root Issue of Employment, being faced by the Youth of Rural India. Their initiative has delivered unparalleled success in the form of Rural Youth getting employed with the best of the MNC's in India and Abroad.

Nozomi's Working Model

A) Nozomi's Integrated & Intensive Training

Nozomi follows a unique model in which students are taken through an integrated training module incorporating cutting edge IT with Japanese language and Job oriented training. The pedagogy takes the students beyond simply black-board & books, incorporating practical hands on approach. The greatest focus is on Japanese language where no effort is spared in exposing the student to real life Japanese lifestyle and culture. A specialist, eminent Japanese faculty is brought live via webcam from Japan every week to capture the finer nuances of pronunciation, intonation and body-language. All this is topped by a module on Presentations and Personality and finally all modules are integrated through real time live application project.

B) Ultra Modern Infrastructure

The most contemporary infrastructure has been set up, to train the educated human resources of Vidharba in Japanese, IT and Finance. It includes all the modern facilities like, high bandwidth ISDN leased line, video conferencing facilities, audiovisual facilities, advanced networked hardware and highly competent faculties. All interactive training methods such as role-plays, mock meetings, simulations etc. ensure superlative quality of learning. Nozomi prepares students to not just read and write and converse in Japanese, but gives them such intensive exposure to the Japanese culture, its business etiquettes and way of life, that Japanese becomes their second nature. Nozomi students appear for universally accepted Examinations namely JLPT (Japanese Language Proficiency Test) and BJT (Business Japanese Test - Conducted by the Japan External Trade Organization).

For the last three and half years, Nozomi has been training students from Vidarbha in Japanese language and imparting software skills. It has successfully trained 260 students.

C) International Contracts

In Japan Nozomi has executed highly prestigious contracts for “Technology Services and Software Development” with J P Morgan, AXA, Calyon Bank, Deutsche Bank, Oracle Japan, BNP Paribas, NAT IXIS, Intelligroup Japan, Wipro Japan.

It is also currently working on BNPP and NAT IXIS IT projects.

D) Domestic Contracts

In India , Nozomi has penned agreements with Fidelity, Oracle India , KVH, BNPP Mumbai, Intelligroup, Satyam, and Hexaware for technology services and providing skilled resources .

E) Final Placements

Nozomi's biggest achievement has been that all its students have been absorbed by large companies; even the last batch has a 100% placement track-record being placed at Fidelity ( Bangalore ), which is world's 2 nd largest financial investments company.

Nozomi ensures all students are placed with MNC's and major Indian companies.

 
 


F) Creating Success Stories, Changing Lives And Lifestyles

 
       
 

Ganesh Futane: A Village boy from Ashtona, a village of less than 10,000 population. His parents are Farm Labourers for generations and under never ending debts. He never had the glimpse of Railways till his high school.

Ganesh was brought to Nagpur Centre, trained in Japanese language and now plays a vital role in co-ordinating with Nozomi's Japanese Delegates in India . Ganesh today takes care of his parents emotionally and financially both. He is also taking care for the further studies of his younger sibling.

 
     
 
Chopal Kumar Rathod: A less privileged candidate from Yawatmal District. His parents were striving hard to fetch the minimal basics for life and had never thought of leaving village as were in debts. After seeing Chopal's desire to do something in life he was brought to Nozomi Nagpur Center , trained at Nozomi, he is now working at Fidelity, Bangalore as a Network Support Engineer. His family also leaves a life of respect and satisfaction though still in village. Chopal has a dream of establishing his own enterprise where in he would like to follow Nozomi's model, for the up-liftment of his village youngsters, who he believes are very talented.
 
     
 
Harish Chapke: A young aspirant from a village near by Nagpur . Looking at his inherent talent Nozomi has helped him in getting trained and placed. He is now working for Fidelity in Bangalore .
 
     
 

Avinash Ghate: A techno aspirant without resources from a village near Nagpur was assisted by Nozomi as he completed his Diploma in Nagpur , he joined Nozomi. He is now Sr. Network Engineer with Bi-lingual abilities and works to bridge operations between Japan and India . Empowered and settled…heading for his marriage.

To leverage its success into real time growth a massive expansion plan has already been put into action. Nozomi has acquired a massive plot in Chattrapati Nagar, Nagpur to build a large ultra-modern Language Training, IT & Software Development Centre. The facility will accommodate over 400 professionals and will be utilized for Training & Off-shore Development.

This facility will also help Nozomi in reaching out to many more students from Rural Areas and develop them for the global requirements. It would be creating a unique techno-lingua education hub, which will cater to the Asian finance and IT industry. Nozomi will be introducing people of Vidarbha to Chinese and Korean languages to tap the huge opportunities from these countries. This will no doubt bring talented people from Nagpur to the forefront of global IT jobs and enable them to crave a niche for themselves. The future plans of Nozomi also include expanding its horizons to Seoul , Hong Kong and Singapore .

Nozomi Is Now Ready To Expand:

Nozomi is all set to penetrate other Rural Areas in India . Towards this end, Nozomi will be reaching out to Amethi, the Gandhian town. Nozomi will endeavour to replicate its success story in Amethi, with the support of Government bodies, revolutionary and dynamic leaders, Nozomi proposes to shape the lives of hundreds of Rural Youths towards a dream career. By adopting success strategies and creating awareness, Nozomi will establish another centre of excellence and lay a foundation for generations of youngsters.

As a conscious effort towards ‘returning back to society' and as a Corporate Social Responsibility measure, each year Nozomi provides Free Language and IT training to under privileged candidates from Vidharbha. This constitutes nearly 40% of the full time batch in any given year. This has been taken cognizance by international visitors to our facility.

Nozomi proposes to do exactly the same in Amethi and focus on students from economically backward class. Nozomi envisions that in a span of one year, Nozomi would be able to change 250 lives of young rural girls and boys from Amethi.

As Nozomi grows, it will span its wings of education and career to many other Rural Areas in India , from North to South, East to West. It is Nozomi's dream to empower through education and technology, the real power of India - The Rural Youth.
